Having decided to go to the concert at relatively the last minute, the only places that were available and affordable were in seating but against my initial thought, that was no bad thing.
The seats we (Me, Jay and Kayleigh) had gave us an almost perfect view of the stage while being so close that we could actually have thrown something at one the band members and hit them.
The first band on stage were Children of Bodom who as usual delivered a crushing performance of their melodic brand of metal. Alexi 'Wildchild' Laiho especially working well into warming up an already considerable crowd and shredding through solo after solo. 7/10.
Next up were Machine Head, a band I've been eager to see for a while in order to see if their reputation and hype is deserved. It's an understatement to say that all the noise that comes with Machine Head's live show is in no way hot air. They were a very impressive live unit delivering song after song of quality heavy metal, inciting the crowd into a frenzy. Special mention also has to go to front man Rob Flynn for being one of the best front men I've seen, relaxed and at ease with the crowd. 8/10
The final act in the nights stellar line up was the famed Iwoa nine - Slipknot. There are few ways to accurately sum up Slipknot's live show while doing it justice. The way I'm going to describe it is that when Slipknot are performing to the level which they were that night, they really are a force of nature. Flying seamlessly through songs from all of their albums they dominated the audience in front of them - the biggest audience of the tour so far - with each song sonically hammering down the sea of Maggots before them.
The only critiques I have of their performance is that the set could of afforded to be longer as I left the show thirsting for more and it would of benifited with more new material and classic hits such as 'Wait and Bleed' rather than obscure older album tracks like 'Prosthetics'. Overall though, an amazing band who I'd happily see again and again. 8/10.
